The 2000-01 Miami Heat season is the 13th season of the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] Before the start of the season, Alonzo Mourning suffered a kidney disorder and only played in the final thirteen games of the season. The Heat acquired Eddie Jones and Anthony Mason from the Charlotte Hornets, and acquired Brian Grant from a three team trade during the offseason. Mason was selected for the 2001 NBA All-Star Game in his only year with the Heat as they finished second in the Atlantic Division with a 50–32 record. In the first round of the playoffs, they were swept by the sixth-seeded Hornets in three straight games.
