Thomas Singleton (priest)

Thomas Singleton, DD[1] was Archdeacon of Northumberland[2] from 1826 until[3] his death on 13 March 1842.[4]

The grandson of Francis Grose and son of Anketell Singleton (Governor of Landguard Fort from 1766 to 1804) he was born on 25 July 1783, educated at Eton College and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and ordained in 1807.[5] He was Chaplain to the Duke of Northumberland[6] and Rector of Elsdon, Northumberland[7] before his Archdeacon’s appointment.[8]
