The International School (TIS) is a private, co-educational day school located in Clifton, Karachi, Pakistan.

Catering to pupils from the pre-school to high school level, it offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP, MYP and DP.

As of April 2016, the PYP, MYP and DP coordinators at TIS are Bisma Harris, Samia Majid and Tahir Manto, with Samia Majid serving the additional role of Principal of the school.

History

TIS was established in 1996 by Taymur Mirza, being the first IB-affiliated educational institution to open in Pakistan.[1]

Subjects offered

As of April 2016, TIS offers the following subjects:[2][3][4]

MYP

MYP 1 to 3

MYP 4 and 5

Only foreign national pupils may take French instead of Urdu, which is compulsory for Pakistani pupils until MYP 5. Pakistani national pupils are allowed to take French and other foreign languages in DP though.

Pakistani pupils in MYP 3, 4 and 5 are also required to take Pakistan Studies, while Pakistani Muslim pupils are also additionally required to take Islamiat.

All MYP 4 and 5 students also have the mandatory Personal Project and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirement.

DP 1 and 2

All DP students also have the compulsory Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS requirement.

Sports day

The school has an annual sports day, with students divided into three teams: Africa, Asia and Europe, with yellow, dark green and dark blue being the colours of the teams respectively.

Certifications

The school is also certified with Cambridge International Examinations and Edexcel, and is part of the Middle East International Baccalaureate Association (MEIBA.)[5][6]
