Major record labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Music have divisions which oversees acts from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula with an executive that manages both regions. Spain, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States are the largest Latin music markets in the world. In the 1990s, artists from Italy such as Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, and Tiziano Ferro successfully crossed over to the Latin music field by recording Spanish-language versions of their songs. In 2000, the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (LARAS) established the Latin Grammy Awards to recognize musicians who perform in Spanish or Portuguese. Unlike the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) which only accepts recordings that been released in the United States, LARAS admits any recordings in Spanish or Portuguese that have been released in Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the United States. In 2013, Spanish singer Julio Iglesias was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the best-selling male Latin artist of all time.

"Marta" is a Latin pop song recorded by Guatemalan recording artist Ricardo Arjona. It was released on 29 March 2011 as the third and final single from his twelfth studio album, Poquita Ropa (2010). It was written by Arjona, who produced it with longtime collaborators Dan Warner and Lee Levin under their stage name, Los Gringos. An accompanying music video for "Marta" was released in March 2011 and features Mexican actress Edith Gonzalez. It was directed by Joaquín Cambre. The video was used as part of the feature film Poquita Ropa — Una Historia Apasionada.
Selected article or list -The Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Music Album is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and promotes a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. According to the category description guide for the 13th Latin Grammy Awards, the award is for vocal or instrumental merengue house, R&B, reggaeton, rap and/or hip hop music albums containing at least 51 percent playing time of newly recorded material. The award was first presented as the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album until it received its current name, Best Urban Music Album, at the 5th Latin Grammy Awards ceremony in 2004. The accolade for Best Urban Music Album was first presented to the Argentine band Sindicato Argentino del Hip Hop at the second Latin Grammy Awards in 2001 for their album Un Paso a la Eternidad. In 2009, the Puerto Rican duo Calle 13 became the first urban act to be presented with Best Urban Music Album and Album of the Year for their album Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo (2008). Mediocre (Spanish pronunciation: [meˈðjokɾe]) is the Latin Grammy nominated and Grammy winning debut album of Mexican singer and actress Ximena Sariñana, released in the United States on July 15, 2008. Mediocre reached #10 on Billboard's Latin Pop Albums, and spawned the hit single "Vidas Paralelas" ("Parallel Lives"). The album gained additional attention when the iTunes Store featured Sariñana's song "Normal" as the canción de la semana — iTunes' free Latino song of the week — during the week of July 8, 2008.
Mediocre garnered good reviews from many critics, receiving five stars from SoMinty, four stars from Time Out, and four stars from Rolling Stone magazine. Many critics praise Mediocre for being an eclectic album with a diverse style of songs featuring pop, rock, alternative, and nueva canción styles.
