Pinnawala Central College is a public school located in Rambukkana in Sri Lanka . The college is approximately 2 kilometres from the town of Rambukkana and approximately 7 kilometres away from city of Kegalle.

Pinnawala Central College is a public school located in Rambukkana in Sri Lanka . The college is approximately 2 kilometres from the town of Rambukkana and approximately 7 kilometres away from city of Kegalle. The college is funded by the Ministry of Education, which appoints its Principal. The Principal is the head of the administration of the College and is assisted by a Vice Principals. The college educates close to 2800 students in both secondary and primary education. Administration of the college hostels is carried out by the Warden under supervision of the Principal and is assisted by a Sub-warden.

History Pinnawala Central College first started as a boy’s school in the land of 4 acres with 45 students including 6 teachers in one building in 1870. Mr.Brampisingo was the first principal in 1920. There were classes from grade 1 – 5 at time as a junior school and in 1956 it becomes a mixed school. An immense contribution was offered by the most famous philanthropist and one of the late ministers of postal Mr. N. H. Keerthiratne and Mr.S.A.Lokubandara Bentota as the principal to bring it up to Mahavidyala. Later in 1963 the opportunity was obtained to follow the Advanced Level Examination in Arts stream and increased the classes from grade 1-12 and laid the path for more number of students to learn at the school. A new page was opened in the history of the school by letting the students to follow the Advance Level in the science stream in 1964. Another page of the history was opened by providing the opportunity to follow the A/L in the commerce stream; in 1969 it was a great pride that it made the way to become a National school on 12 September in 1995. By letting the students follow free education at the same time for the betterment of the students welfare the school was growing. Facilities got the chance to open two double floor buildings as male and female hostels. At the beginning there was only ¼ of acres of land and now it is expanded to 6 acres of land. Though it was started with one building now there are 45 buildings and it depicts the development of the school today. A vast development is completed with a large play ground A Library, An Audio – visual unit Laboratory, for G.C.E. O/L, information Technological unit, Home Science unit, Agriculture unit, Aesthetic unit, Scouts troop and Environmental unit.

Houses

The students are divided into four houses. The houses are led by House Captains, competing in all major games to win the inter-house games and house colours are awarded winners. The houses are:
