Mike Brumley (catcher)

Tony Mike Brumley (born July 10, 1938) is a former catcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Washington Senators (1964–1966). Brumley batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He is father of infielder Mike Brumley.

Brumley originally signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers and played seven seasons in the Dodger farm system. A three-time minor league All-Star, Brumley appeared in a career-high 136 games with the Senators during his rookie season, but was relegated to a reserve role after hitting only .244.

In a three-season career, Brumley was a .229 hitter with five home runs and 50 RBI in 295 games. He posted a .991 fielding percentage with only 10 errors in 1106 chances.

Mike Brumley became ordained as a Baptist Minister in the early 1980s and became well known in the Bradenton Sarasota area as an evangelical minister. He was instrumental in expanding and developing the Palma Sola Bay Baptist Church, which was later renamed "The Bridge Church of Palma Sola Bay". Palma Sola Bay Baptist Church under Mike Brumley's leadership was heavily attended by baseball players from several states who lived and trained in Florida during the off season. Pastor Brumley's sermons often drew examples from his previous experience as a professional baseball player.

Brumley currently resides in Keller, Texas.
