He completed the Programme for Management Development at Harvard Business School and is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers.
In November 2013, he was announced as the inaugural chairman of the Garden Bridge Trust, planning a planted bridge over the Thames in London.[5]
In January 2015, he called for the investment in infrastructure in Wales, citing the need for better rail and mobile services.[6]
In May 2015 Davies was appointed as Deputy Chairman of the LetterOne Group, an international investment holding business which invests in the energy, technology and telecom sectors.[7]
Public Appointments and Honours

Davies was awarded a CBE for his services to the financial sector and the community in Hong Kong in June 2002 and is a JP in Hong Kong. Upon taking up his ministerial post, he was appointed a life peer as Baron Davies of Abersoch, of Abersoch in the County of Gwynedd, so as to gain a seat in the House of Lords to be held accountable for his ministerial responsibilities.
