Line R1 or Line 18[1] of the Beijing Subway (Chinese: 北京地铁R1线; pinyin: běijīng dìtiě ēr yī hàoxiàn) is a rapid transit rail line under planning in Beijing. R1 is the code name for an express line that is planned to run parallel to Line 1.[2]
History
In January 2011, the R1 Line was described by the Tongzhou District leadership as a line that would run parallel to Line 1 which would be built before 2015.[3] The line was named in February 2012 as one of six new lines under planning by the city's public transit planning authorities.[2] It is included in the city's subway plan for 2020.
