Career
After starting his career in his homeland with OFK Beograd and Partizan, he moved to Scotland in 1993 when he joined Dundee United for £600,000. His impressive performances at Tannadice earned him a move to Rangers in July 1995 for £1.5m. He remained with Rangers for three years, helping them secure their ninth league title in a row, before a spell in England with Crystal Palace (where he scored once against Sheffield United)[1] and in Greece with AEK Athens. He remained in Athens for a few months before moving back to Scotland when Jim Jefferies signed him for Hearts for £500,000 in 1999. He remained with Hearts until March 2001, when he left two years before the end of his contract by "mutual consent".[2] Petrić scored once for Hearts, his goal coming in the UEFA Cup against VfB Stuttgart.[3]
He earned five caps for the national team of Yugoslavia between 1989 and 1997, having previously appeared in the country's 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship triumph alongside the likes of Robert Prosinečki, Predrag Mijatović, Zvonimir Boban, Robert Jarni and Davor Šuker.[4]
