Dr. Ashwath Narayan C. N is an Indian politician. He is a Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing BJP from Malleshwaram constituency,[1][2] Bangalore, Karnataka.[3] He is often credited with Malleshwaram witnessing massive transformation in several sectors including healthcare, welfare, education, sports, infrastructure and several others under his leadership.
He also holds various positions viz. Convenor of Doctors Cell - Bharatiya Janata Party, Managing Trustee of Padmashree Charitable Trust[4][5][6] and Shushrutha Group of Institutions and Founder President of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.[7] He was the Vice President of Bharathiya Janatha Party, Bangalore District, senate member of Bangalore University, syndicate and senate member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Employees Association, Bangalore, President of Samskara Bharathi, Malleshwaram and the Chairman of Committee for drafting statutes for A&B, C&D cadre of employees of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.[7]
Dr. Ashwath Narayan has earned the respect of his constituency by enabling innovative ideas like introduction of Health Insurance schemes, Pension scheme for Widows, Handicaps and Senior Citizens, Day Care Centre for Senior Citizens, Seva Kendra’s in each ward. His initiatives such as Hasiru Santhe, Zero Garbage, Waste Re Cycle, Modernizing Old Establishments, Development of Parks, Gymnasiums and Aerobics Centre’s etc., are widely acknowledged.
While being firmly rooted to the traditional Indian tradition values, culture and wisdom, he is firm believer of technology and modern techniques to enhance and uplift the ‘quality of life’ of a common man. Widely regarded as a youthful and energetic leader with innovative thoughts, He has successfully communicated his vision to the people of Malleshwaram and has been able to impart faith, trust and hope among people of Malleshwaram. Ashwath Narayan is the youngest son of Sri. T.K. Narayanappa and Smt. V.L. Padmamma and was born on 2 February 1969. Sri. T.K. Narayanappa, a Teacher by profession, is a strict and disciplined person. He cultivated moral values and positive thoughts to his children and retired as a Dy Superintendent of Physical Education. Ashwath Narayan grew up in a culture that instilled in him the values of generosity, benevolence and social service. Ashwath Narayan has 3 three brothers, who are all engineers have been pursuing their own professional lives. Growing up, he was raised by a disciplined father and a loving mother. They instilled in him the moral values, culture, positive thoughts, and values of generosity, benevolence and passion to serve others. Dr. Ashwath Narayan is married to Smt. Shruthi, a Chickmagalur native, who holds a master's degree in Social Works (Master of Social Work). He has two children, a son, Amogh, born in 2001 and a daughter, Akanksha, born in 2003, both studies at National public school, Bangalore. Mrs. Shruthi is involved with the running of the Padmashree Medicare Pvt Ltd., apart from helping Dr. Ashwath Narayan in his social works

Early education

He was born to T.K. Narayanappa and Padmamma on 2 February 1969 at Bangalore, Karnataka, India.[7] He completed his pre school education from St. Mary's School, Rajajinagar, Bangalore, primary schooling from Chandrodaya School, Yeshwanthpu, Middle schooling from B.P. Indian School, Malleshwaram, High schooling from D.V.S. Shimoga, Pre University from National College, Shimoga and obtained M.B.B.S from Kasturba Medical College Mangalore.[8]

Early life & Career

After completing his schooling in Bangalore and Shimoga, he went to Kasturba Medical College to complete his medical degree, where he became the president of student’s union and upon completing the course he became the president of Junior Doctor’s association. After working his way through college as a leader of student’s union and then as president of junior doctors association, he was elected as Senate and Syndicate member of Rajiv Gandhi University and Health Sciences and Bangalore University.

As a young man he had a great view of building Institution and Entrepreneurship. He started Padmashree Charitable Trust and Shushrutha Group of Institution, which are running a group of educational Institutions, which offer various courses in Paramedic, Management, Science and technology and Ayurvedic Medical Schience. Over 2500 students are pursuing their studies in these Institutions Endowed with excellent organizational capability and a rich insight into human psychology, he was elected as

  • The student leader (President) of Kasturba Medical College in 1989.
  • The President of Junior Doctor Association in 1994
  • The Senate Member of Bangalore University in 1995
  • The Senate and Syndicate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in 1999.
  • The Senate and Syndicate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in 2002 (Re-elected).
  • Life member of Indian Medical Association

During these durations, Ashwath Narayan played a prominent role in various socio-political movements, introduced many policies and brought lot of reforms

Political career

Dr. Ashwath Narayan entered mainstream politics in 2004 by joining the BJP, contested from Malleshwaram constituency and lost the election against a sitting MLA M.R. Seetharam.
In the year 2008, he again contested from the same constituency. He won the election to the state legislature with a huge margin against the strong candidate and two times MLA, M.R. Seetharam.
Just within a year, he had acquired a reputation for being a highly efficient organizer. He took up the challenging task of energizing the party cadres in right earnest. He was elevated to the level of Vice President of BJP, Bangalore District. Under his leadership, Malleshwaram is witnessing massive transformation in several sectors including healthcare, welfare, education, sports, infrastructure and several others. He developed a clear vision of his own for the future of the constituency, launched policy-driven reform programs and several welfare schemes. His intentions and capacity were noticed within the first 100 days of his coming to power. Little wonder that these skills coupled with his administrative acumen, clear vision and integrity of character translated into a landslide victory for BJP candidate from Bangalore North constituency in the April 2009 general elections and a huge victory for BJP candidates in 2010 Municipal corporation elections with a massive majority of 6 of 7 wards in the constituency.
Certain novel ideas like introduction of Vajapeye Arogyashree Health Insurance, Pension scheme for Widows, Handicaps and Senior Citizens, Day Care Centre for Senior Citizens, Seva Kendra’s in each ward, protecting and up holding the values of tradition, culture and heritage, show his concern for the most common man of the constituency.

His initiatives such as Hasiru Santhe, Zero Garbage, Waste Re Cycle, Modernizing Old Establishments, Development of Parks, Gymnasiums and Aerobics Centre’s etc., aim at multi-dimensional development of Malleshwaram. The vision, concept and time-bound implementation of such initiatives is what makes Ashwath Narayan stand out as a true statesman who thinks of the next generation against the backdrop of politicians who can only think as far as the next elections.

Widely and regarded as a youthful and energetic leader with innovative thoughts, Dr. Ashwath Narayan has successfully communicated his vision to the people of Malleshwaram and has been able to impart faith, trust and hope among people of Malleshwaram.
