The club was formed in 1993 and began to play their games in the Southern Olympian League before moving to the Middlesex County Football League in the 1995–96 season. The first team then went on to win MCFL Division One title in the 1996–97 season.

Years of obscurity went by before a resurgence in the club's fortunes in the late 2000s, with a runners-up medal in the Middlesex Intermediate Cup in the 2009–10 season.

It was not until the 2011–12 season when the Saturday side secured its first silverware in well over a decade with the club winning the Alec Smith Premier Cup. The club went on to successfully defend this title a year later. The 2013–14 season saw Broadfields United make its début in the FA Vase. Following the conclusion of the 2014–15 season the club was promoted from the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division into the Spartan South Midlands League Division One.

The club also has a second side, Broadfields FC, who have been relatively successful in recent years. This team is currently playing their matches in Hertfordshire Senior County League Division One.
