Brittani Kline[2] (born May 19, 1991) is an American fashion model best known as the winner of Cycle 16 of America's Next Top Model.[3]

Early life

Kline was born on May 19, 1991, in Beech Creek, Pennsylvania, and is currently living in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.

America's Next Top Model

In 2011, Kline appeared in Cycle 16 of the CW Network reality television show America's Next Top Model, in which she competed against thirteen other aspiring models. She beat out Molly O'Connell[4] in the end, taking the position as Cycle 16 winner.

In the first three episodes, her photos had impressed the judges, enabling her to finish with the second-best photos in episodes 1[5] and 2,[6] and third-best photo in episode 3.[7] In the fourth episode,[8] the judges were disappointed by her performance in a mock TV commercial for Fierce Roast Coffee. In episodes 5[9] and 6,[10] her photos again impressed the judges, allowing her to finish with the second-best photo in episode 5 and best photo in episode 6, as she stood out amongst the brunette group in a brunettes-vs.-blondes photo challenge.

In episode 7,[11] an angry confrontation between Kline and fellow contestant Alexandria Everett[12] at a photoshoot challenge was witnessed by both the photographer, show judge Nigel Barker, and the photoshoot client. When Barker called out Kline's behavior at final judging, she stated her opinion that Barker had made the wrong choice in declaring Everett the challenge winner and attempted to explain that Everett was not liked by any of the other contestants. This led to an emotional exchange with the judges ending in Kline's departure from the set in tears. Afterwards the judges were divided on the matter, with Tyra Banks being the only one who wanted her to leave the competition. As a result, Kline placed in the bottom two alongside fellow contestant Mikaela Schipani[13] but continued in the competition. In the following (8th) episode,[14] she apologized to Banks, who accepted it.

In episodes 10[15] and 11,[16] her photos were again praised by the judges, leading to her fifth runner-up position during the competition. In episode 12,[17] Kline was placed in the bottom two along with fellow contestant Hannah Jones,[18] but she was saved after the deliberation of the judges.

In the season finale,[19] she and fellow finalist Molly O'Connell shot their CoverGirl commercials and print ads, and their Beauty in Vogue photo spreads. They also met Ivan Bart, the president of IMG Models. During the final runway show with O'Connell, Kline slipped on some rose petals and crashed into a wall, but the judges praised her recovery, noting that she was still smiling in her final walk without showing any pain. The two contestants received new makeovers for the final judging, in which each contestant's hair was cut significantly shorter. Kline runway performance was praised, but Tyra criticized her for laughing at one point while posing with O'Connell on the runway. Her CoverGirl commercial and print ad were also praised. As the judges deliberated, the decision went in Kline's favor. Banks announced her as the winner of the 16th Cycle, placing fellow contestant O'Connell as runner-up. Kline won a US$100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a contract with IMG Models, the cover of Beauty In Vogue and fashion spreads in Vogue Italia and Beauty In Vogue.[19]

Post-ANTM

Kline stated that she would be going to Paris in June 2011 to shoot her Vogue Italia spread[20] and moved to New York City with fellow contestant, and runner-up, Molly O'Connell in July 2011.[21]

She had an advertorial for United Colors of Benetton in Vogue Mexico. She also had a spread in Vogue Italia, Beauty in Vogue, and a cover of Beauty in Vogue as part of her ANTM prize package. Kline announced on her official page on Facebook that she was leaving IMG Models due to health concerns and consequently her modeling career. She returned to her hometown in early 2012 to finish her degree. She lives with her boyfriend of five years, Erik, and two cats. She has since been removed from the IMG Models website.

In January 2013, she returned to modeling and signed with mother agent and photographer Manny Roman. Since then, she has signed with multiple agencies and has walked for Balenciaga and Prabal Gurung at NYFW. She also appeared twice in Interview Magazine and booked work for Acne Studios, Sportmax Code, and Bimba y Lola. [22]

She attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, studying Spanish language and English writing. She graduated from LHU in December 2015 with honors and as a member of Sigma Tau Delta. She plans to continue working as a model as long as opportunities are presented. Eventually, she plans to branch off into writing. She hopes to someday publish a memoir and explore the possibilities of writing children's books, travel pieces, and poetry. [23]
