Birenbach is a municipality in the district of Göppingen in the StuttgartStuttgart Region of Baden-Württemberg Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. First mentioned in documents as "Bürbach" in 1414, later as Bürenbach. This shows the close relationship of the village to the Herrschaft Büren and Friedrich von Büren, also known as Frederick I, Duke of Swabia (i.e., Wäschenbeuren), which was closely related to the House of Hohenstaufen. Birenbach was completely destroyed during the 30 Years' War, but was rebuilt. Birenbach is famous for its church of pilgrimage, the Wallfahrtskirche Zur Schmerzhaften Muttergottes.
Birenbach is located along the primary road 297 (Bundesstraße 297) between Göppingen and Lorch. Several bus lines connect Birenbach to Göppingen and other neighboring communities.
Birenbach has an elementary school, the Friedrich-von-Büren Grundschule.
