Benjamin Mendy (born 17 July 1994) is a French footballer.[1] He plays as a left back for French club Olympique de Marseille. Mendy is a French youth international having represented his nation at under-16 and under-17 level. In 2011, he was a part of the under-17 team that reached the quarter-finals at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. On 24 July 2011, Mendy signed his first professional contract agreeing to a three-year deal with Le Havre.[2] Prior to signing his contract, he was linked with a move to English club Arsenal.[3] Mendy made his professional debut on 9 August 2011 in the team's 2–1 Coupe de la Ligue defeat to Amiens.[4]
