Baltic psaltery

The term Baltic psaltery refers to a family of related box-zither string instruments found generally in the vicinity of the Baltic Sea.

These instruments include:

• Kantele (Finland, Karelia and Northwest Russia)
• Harpu (Sápmi [formerly called Lapland])
• Kannel (Estonia)
• Kanklės (Lithuania)
• Kokle (Latvia)
• Kusle (Volga-Finnic Mari people of Russia)
• Gusli (Northwest Russia)
