Attimis (Friulian: Atimis, German: Attems, Slovene: Ahten) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) northeast of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,909 and an area of 33.3 square kilometres (12.9 sq mi).[1] According to the census 1971 23,3% of the population are Slovenes.
The municipality of Attimis contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Forame, Subit, Porzus, Racchiuso, and Borgo Faris (Partistagno).
Attimis borders the following municipalities: Faedis, Nimis, Povoletto, Taipana.
Here lies an important medieval archaeological museum with many artifacts and interesting routes for school children
The Attems noble family originates from the Fortress of Attimis.
Puerto Rican songwriter and musician Tony Croatto was born in Attimis.
-April is the opening of Pilgrimage "Madone de Sesula" on Porzus
-during June and July is the feast of strawberries and raspberries in Attimis
-in the hamlet Borgo Faris, every October the “agriturismo Ai Faris” organizes “in taule cul Mus” or “donkey at the table” during which a wide sampling of dishes based on donkey meat is offered, accompanied by home-made bread, polenta and local wine.
