Arriva Rail London[1] is a future train operating company owned by Arriva UK Trains that will commence operating the London Overground concession on 13 November 2016.

History

In April 2015, Transport for London placed a notice in the Official Journal of the European Union, inviting expressions of interest in operating the next concession.[2] In July 2015, Transport for London announced the shortlisted bidders for the next concession were Arriva UK Trains, ComfortDelGro, a Keolis/Go-Ahead joint venture and MTR Corporation.[3] In March 2016, Arriva was awarded a seven and a half year concession with an option to extend for a further two years. Operations will commence on on 13 November 2016.[4][5][6] Arriva hold a 50% shareholding in the current concession holder, London Overground Rail Operations.

Arriva Rail London will operate these services:

Rolling stock

Arriva Rail London will inherit a fleet of Class 172, 315, 317 and 378s. From 2018, 45 Class 710s will be delivered.[7] These will replace the 172, 315 and 317s, and the 378s on Watford DC Line duties allowing them to be concentrated on North, East, West and South London Line services.[8]
