The 1980 United States presidential election in Iowa took place on November 4, 1980. All 50 states and The District of Columbia were part of the 1980 United States presidential election. Voters chose 8 electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.
Iowa was won by former California Governor Ronald Reagan (R) by a comfortable margin of 12 points.[1] As of the 2016 presidential election[update], this is the last Presidential election in which a Republican has won Iowa by more than 10 points, as well as the last time a Republican won Polk County, home to Iowa's most populated city, Des Moines.
