Vyacheslav Valeriyovych Glazkov (Ukrainian: В'ячеслав Валерійович Глазков, born 15 October 1984) is a Ukrainian professional boxer who fights at heavyweight. As an amateur in the super heavyweight division, he won a silver medal at the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships and bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Amateur

Glazkov won the first 2004 World University Boxing Championship by stopping world class Elchin Alizade at 201 lbs.

He then moved up to super heavyweight. At the world championships 2005 he outpointed Jaroslav Jaksto 26:20 but ran into the eventual winner Odlanier Solis early and lost (26-11)

At the Strandya Cup 2006 he beat David Price by RSCO but couldn't fight the final and lost by walkover to local hero Kubrat Pulev who also beat him at the European Championships 28:11.

At the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships he outpointed Columbian Oscar Rivas and stopped Jaroslav Jaksto. He defeated Chinese Zhang Zhilei 21:11 in the semifinals but lost to Italian southpaw Roberto Cammarelle.

Professional career

Glazkov made his professional debut on July 2, 2009 in Moscow. On March 15, 2015, Glazkov defeated Steve Cunningham by unanimous decision to earn a title fight against Tyson Fury. Following a petition from Glazkov's camp, Fury's recognition as IBF champion was withdrawn, citing his intention to fight a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko as the reason. Glazkov was matched with Charles Martin for the vacated title. The bout, which took place on January 16, 2016 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, ended when Glazkov suffered an injury to his knee in the 3rd round that rendered him unable to continue.[1]
