Transformers: Age of Extinction is a film which has an associated toy line released in 2014 by Hasbro (Takara Tomy in Japan).[1][2] The film, and thus the toy line, is based on the original Transformers media franchise. The first toy in this line is First Edition Optimus Prime, which was released on February 2014.[3]

Unlike previous Transformers toy lines including those of the previous three films, this line is divided into two distinct series based on target audience: "Robots in Disguise" and "Generations". "Robots in Disguise" is a series of simpler, more gimmicky toys aimed toward children. "Generations" is a series featuring more complex and movie-accurate toys aimed toward adult collectors. With Hasbro's renewed focus on simpler toys for children, the "traditional" Deluxe, Voyager and Leader Class assortments are explicitly split off under the "Generations" banner, receiving a much reduced focus in marketing and even being entirely store exclusive in the United Kingdom. In Japan, the "Robots in Disguise" and "Generations" sub-lines are marketed as "Lost Age Series" and "Movie Advanced", respectively.

Flip and Change/Smash and Change

Flip and Change figures are Leader-sized toys aimed at children, with easy transformation by grabbing two sides of the toy and flipping the center portion twice. Optimus Prime is a Smash and Change figure, which transforms by placing the truck mode upward and pressing the rear end against the ground; the spring-loaded mechanism pops panels to reveal the robot mode.

Power Battlers

Power Battlers are toys aimed at children, featuring spring-loaded action gimmicks.

Stomp and Chomp

Stomp and Chomp Grimlock is a giant toy aimed at children that easily transforms by tilting the dinosaur body upward. The toy comes with a non-transforming Optimus Prime figure that can ride on its back and activate light and sound effects while deploying hidden weapons. It also activates different lights and sounds depending on which One Step Changer or Power Battler figure is placed on its back.

Battle Command

Battle Command Optimus Prime is similar in size to the First Edition figure, but comes with a trailer that transforms into his jet pack. In addition, the figure has light and sound features that activate when a One Step Changer or Power Battler figure is placed on his back.[4]

Dino Sparkers

Dino Sparkers are non-transforming toys aimed at children. This line consists of figures riding on Dinobots/animals that roll and emit sparks in their bodies by pull-back action.

Titans are 12- and 16-inch non-transforming figures with limited articulation aimed at children.
