Sikta (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: शिक्ता विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Paschim Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview

As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 9. Sikta (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Mainatanr and Sikta community development block; and Barawa Barauli, Somgarh and Bhavta gram panchayats of Narkatiaganj CD Block.[1]

Sikta (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of 1. Valmiki Nagar (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

1977-2010

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Dilip Verma, Independent, won the 9 Sikta assembly seat defeating Khushid Urf Firoz Ahamad of JD(U) and sixteen other candidates.[2]Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Dilip Verma representing SP defeated Krishna Prasad of BJP in October 2005. Dilip Verma of SP defeated Khurshid Alam Alis Firoz Alam, Independent, in February 2005. Dilip Verma representing BJP defeated Motiur Rahman of CPI(ML)(L) in 2000. Dilip Verma representing Champaran Vikas Party defeated Faiazul Azam of JD in 1995. Faiazul Azam, Independent, defeated Dilip Kumar of JD in 1990. Dharmesh Prasad Verma of Janata Party defeated Gausal Azam of Congress in 1985.
