Sadat City (Arabic: مدينة السادات‎‎ Madīnat as-Sādāt  Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [mæˈdiːnɪt essæˈdæːt]) is a markaz in northern Egypt. It is named after the assassinated former Egyptian president, Anwar Sadat. Located 94 kilometres (58 mi) north-west of Cairo, it belongs to Menoufia Governorate. It is one of the largest industrial cities in the country. Sadat city is among of the first generation, which the Urban Communities Authority formed in 1978. The city due to the large green belt area surrounding the same has earned a place in the top ten industrial societies in the Middle East boasting a clean environment and safety of natural resources by the World Health Organization.[1]
