Regina Dominican, a college preparatory Catholic school for women, sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, fosters academic excellence, truth, peace and justice while challenging each student to develop leadership for life and respect for all races, cultures and faiths. The schools mission is to provide a supportive, spiritual based, educational environment that encourages compassion for others, inspires self-confidence, cultivates curiosity for what the world has to offer and promotes the value of lifelong learning and leadership.

History

Cardinal Samuel Stritch requested that the Adrian Dominican Sisters established Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette. Their goal was to educate young women in the northern suburbs. They thought long and hard as to chosen the name of their newly found high school but in the end, they named it in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Dominic, whom was the founder of the Order of Preachers. They proudly announced that the school was officially opened in September 1958. Their 64 sophomores and 200 freshmen were the first students ever to set foot in the classrooms and experience the brand new school first hand. Regina became a very popular school and soon was a school of over 9,000 young women throughout the years.

Sister Mary Kevin Campbell, was the women who was put in charge. She made sure the construction on the building ran smoothly and once it was fully finished, she became the first principal of the new high school. She stated these famous words at her first meeting to the parents of the newest students of Regina that now the High school lives by today. "The school is only a tool in your hand to help you with the responsibility of educating your children and grounding them with a good foundation for life."

For over 50 years, Regina Dominican has provided a Catholic, Dominican environment where young women develop spiritually, intellectually, culturally and emotionally. The school remains a place where young women create lasting memories, lifelong friendships and irreplaceable experiences.
