Memorial Park Jacksonville is the most populous city proper in the U.S. state of Florida, and eleventh most populous in the United States. Originally called Wacca Pilatka by the Seminole and Cowford by the British, the city takes its present name from Andrew Jackson, the first military governor of the Florida Territory and seventh President of the United States. In 1968, Jacksonville consolidated with Duval County, creating the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. Most of its metropolitan population is within the city limits; with an estimated population of 827,908. The entire metropolitan area had a population of 1,345,596 in 2010. Residents of Jacksonville are referred to as "Jacksonvillians" or "Jaxsons". The city is in Northeast Florida, centered on the banks of the St. Johns River, about 25 miles (40 km) south of the Georgia state line and about 340 miles (547 km) north of Miami. It is a major military and civilian deep-water port, housing two U.S. Navy bases and the Port of Jacksonville, Florida's third largest seaport. The Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) operates the Port of Jacksonville, which includes container shipping facilities at Blount Island Marine Terminal, the Talleyrand Marine Terminal and the Dames Point Marine Terminal. Jacksonville Aviation Authority managers Jacksonville International Airport in Northside, as well as several smaller airports. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) operates bus, people mover, and park-n-ride services throughout the city and region. A major bus terminal at Rosa Parks Station serves as JTA's main transit hub. Various intercity bus companies terminate near Central Station. Amtrak operates passenger rail service to and from major cities throughout North America. Durst was born in Gastonia, North Carolina and spent his formative years in Jacksonville, Florida. Durst played in a number of local bands in Florida while mowing lawns, being a record exec and working as a tattoo artist for financial support. Durst is best known as the vocalist of the multi-platinum rock band Limp Bizkit, formed in 1994, with whom he has released six studio albums. Since 2006, Durst has also become known for his work in independent films. He costarred in the film Population 436, and made his directorial debut in 2007 with the film The Education of Charlie Banks. Durst directed a second film, The Longshots, in 2008. Durst has been ranked in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists by Hit Parader (#71).
