The City of Bankstown is a city and Local Government Area in south-west Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It consists of a number of suburbs including Bass Hill, Greenacre, Georges Hall and Milperra, among others. The City is bounded by the City of Parramatta and Auburn Council to the north, the City of Fairfield and the City of Liverpool to the west, the Sutherland Shire to the south, and the City of Canterbury, the City of Hurstville and the Municipality of Strathfield to the east.

Bankstown has one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Australia. Home to a large Lebanese community, Bankstown also boasts large populations of Greek, Chinese, Vietnamese and Slavic migrants. In all, over 60 different languages are spoken. Bankstown is considered as one of the most multicultural areas in the country.

Centro Bankstown, formerly Bankstown Square is a major regional shopping centre situated in the central business district of the City of Bankstown. It has 285 specialty stores including a number of major retail stores. Opening in 1966, the shopping centre has undergone several refurbishments and additions. The most recent work involved extension of the shopping complex to a block of land opposite Lady Cutler Ave.

In October of 2002 General Property Trust (GPT) divested its 50% interest in Centro Bankstown to Centro Properties Group. GPT received $176 million for sale of its interest in the shopping centre which it jointly owned with the Government Superannuation Office (GSO).

Casey Donovan (born May 13, 1988) is an Australian singer and the youngest winner of the Idol series anywhere in the world, winning the second season of Australian Idol, at the age of 16.
Donovan came from a family of musicians, with several of her relatives pursuing musical careers, including her father, a member of indigenous country band The Donovans. After her parents split, her mother and siblings moved in with stepfather Norm Axford. Growing up, Casey was always interested in singing and was lucky enough to be able to stay in touch with cousins Shalena and Jaleesa.
