José Luis González Gudina (born May 25, 1995) is a soccer player who currently plays for FC Dallas in Major League Soccer.
Youth
Gonzalez was born in North Carolina. Gonzalez grew up in Texas and played for a local Dallas team named C.D. Independiente under head coach Jose Antonio Radilla.
Club career
Gonzalez was recruited by FC Dallas at the age of 16 and started in the academy; he was signed a few years later.
On March 25, 2013, Gonzalez signed a homegrown player contract with FC Dallas, making him the 10th homegrown signing in club history.[1]
Gonzalez was loaned to United Soccer League club Pittsburgh Riverhounds in August 2015.[2] Gonzalez became a starter for FC Dallas towards the end of the 2015 season, starting the club's final 11 regular-season matches of 2015 as well as four playoff matches.[3]
International
Gonzalez has played for Mexican youth teams, and played for the Mexico under-20 team at the FIFA under-20 World Cup, where he started two of their three matches.[4]
In December 2015, Goal.com reported that Gonzalez was planning to join the United States national team during their January 2016 training camp.[5] It was later reported that Gonzalez changed his mind and was named as part of the Mexico under-23 preliminary roster for the 2016 Olympics.[6] Until he represents either senior national team in an official competition, he will remain eligible for both nations.
