Avdhash Kaushal is a human rights activist and has been appointed by the Government of India's by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for monitoring of the rural job guarantee scheme NREGA. He is a recipient of Padmashree award.He has a NGO called RLEK.Mr. Avdhash Kaushal was nominated Man of the Year by The Week Magazine for the year 2003.[1][2]

Avdhash Kaushal was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Career
Avdhash Kaushal was an Associate professor for three years in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
He heads an NGO Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK) which works, among others, to promote the cause of the Van Gujjars: an indigenous forest-dwelling nomadic tribe of the northern Himalayas. Campaigns include literacy, elementary health and veterinary care, and community forest management.
