The 1999-2000 season was the Hawks' 51st season in the NBA and 32nd season in Atlanta.[1] The Hawks played their first season at the Philips Arena, which was built over the site of The Omni. During the offseason, they acquired Isaiah Rider and Jim Jackson from the Portland Trailblazers. However, Rider caused trouble off the court and was waived in March. The Hawks struggled all season and finished seventh in the Central Division with a disappointing 28-54 record. Following the season, Lenny Wilkens left to coach the Toronto Raptors.
For the season, the Hawks changed their uniforms which would last until 2007.
