Public school may refer to:

  • State school in various countries, including Australia, Canada, Scotland, and the United States; a school funded with tax revenue and administered by a government or governmental agency (in contrast to a private school)
  • Public school (United Kingdom), a group of around 10% of the fee-charging independent schools in the United Kingdom which are considered especially prestigious
  • Public school (India), a group of historically elite fee-charging privately owned and managed schools in India
  • Public university, in some countries, e.g. the United States, any university operated by the state, as opposed to being a private enterprise
