The film stars Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, Nicole Kidman, Ruth Wilson, and Matt Lucas. Principal photography began on November 9, 2015 in Sheffield.

A feature film adaptation of How to Talk to Girls at Parties was scheduled to begin shooting by See-Saw Films in the UK in fall 2015, produced by Howard Gertler alongside Iain Canning and Emile Sherman.[1] John Cameron Mitchell has been chosen as director, from a script he cowrote with Philippa Goslett. Elle Fanning and Alex Sharp are set to have lead roles; Ruth Wilson and Matt Lucas are also expected to play.[1][2][3]

Principal photography on the film began on November 9, 2015 in Sheffield, which would be standing in for London.[4][5]
