Giovanni dal Ponte
Giovanni dal Ponte (1385 – ca. 1438) was an Italian painter of the late-Gothic period. He is known by Vasari as dal Ponte, a name derived from the location of his studio at Santo Stefano a Ponte.[1] Many other documents cite his name as Giovanni di Marco.[2][3]

Biography
He was born in Florence. He was reputedly a student of Spinello Aretino.[1] He worked in Assisi and Rome as well as his hometown.[4]
He shared a studio with Giovanni di Smeraldo in Florence and they worked in the early 1430s in S. Trinita, Florence on frescoes as well as on several major altarpieces.[5]
He died in Florence.
Work
Giovanni dal Ponte is known for genre works and historical allegories as well as religious works.[4] His output was very varied and prolific production. He produced fresco cycles and panels and also decorated small objects.[1]
He is not to be confused with the much earlier painter Giovanni da Santo Stefano da Ponte (1306–1365).
