Stockport Lads Club was founded in 1889; it's memorial stone <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stockport_Lads_Club_Memorial_Stone_-_geograph.org.uk_-_1418913.jpg" title="File:Stockport Lads Club Memorial Stone - geograph.org.uk - 1418913.jpg">1418913</a> was laid by the Mayor of Stockport, Joseph Leigh, who was to become actively involved in the club in later years as a trustee. In 1956 the club moved to new premises in Hempshaw Lane. The building is now occupied by a Building Energy Management Systems company.
