Summary

One of 25 Martin PM-2 flying boats of the U.S. Navy, built in the early 1930s. This one belonged to composite squadron VJ-1. The photo was taken during 1937 off Point Loma, California (USA), when VJ-1 was filming fleet manouevers (see camera in the forward machine-gun position). Squadron CO at that time was "Si" Simard, who later commanded the aviation units on Midway Islands during the Battle of Midway in June 1942.
