Summary

Built in 1937, in LNER service she was numbered '4496' and initially named 'Golden Shuttle'. Renamed 'Dwight D Eisenhower' after WW2 she, became No 8 in 1946 and later '60008' under BR service. Withdrawn in July 1963, she was donated to the National Railroad museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. She has been brought back to the UK (together with 'Dominion of Canada') so that all 6 remaining A4 pacifics can be seen together on the anniversary of Mallard's record breaking run in July 1938. She is temporarily on display at the National Railway Museum, York. 22-02-2013
